hi guys
i will be getting a new base unit soon but it wont include an os.i will be getting windows xp home.

is it just a case of inserting the disc and following the instructions to install windows?the reason i ask is that some people advertise there base units with the hard disc already partitioned ready for windows installation(is this really required?)if so it easy to do?

Depends if the HDD is brand new or not. If the HDD has been used before it should be a case of inserting the disc and installing.

If the HDD is brand new (never used) it will need a partition on it. The installation CD will ask you about partitions.

i think the hard drive will have had windows installed and configured to check its working and then removed ,so i guess windows should just install into the partition created?

    thanks ian
