If she only has a personal loan and good credit history otherwise then she could apply for a 0% BT cc, that could also allow you to pay it off quicker. If she doesn't have a recent credit history she could try looking for a BT from the bank that she has the loan from. I saw some of these ccs here...http://www.credit-card-comparison-online.co.uk/0-balance-transfer/ recently.can anyone offer advice about which credit cards would be most likely to accept her?
Best of luck, it sounds like you're doing your upmost in a horrible situation!0 -
Hi All, just wanted to give you all an update on this ongoing saga. After all the arguments and difficult staff at Halifax I finally got a result.
I'm not sure if it was an early Christmas present but I called up Halifax Credit card customer services on Christmas Eve about an unrelated issue and in the the conversation I was explaining about my current situation with the balance transfer offer being removed.
No fuss from the Halifax rep, he just took a look said you have made a simple mistake and that he would fill in the relevant form to get the balance transfer offer re-instated to my account.
Just called up today and they have confirmed that the offer is back on my accouint which means that my interest rate is back to 7.9% for the life of the balance rather than 22.95%.
Amazing at how a different person at a different time in the same dept can actually use common sense!!0 -

FYI - Direct debit has already been set up and will continue to run so should avoid any future issues!!0 -
Great result for you, but what a palaver to have to go through. It seems really unfair that the person you speak to makes all the difference, as clearly your request could be done just the other reps didn't want to do it for you - what power they hold! What you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts :j0
