cant find the receipy for lentil and stuffing burgers please help
  • That was the next thing that I was going to try, went to the cupboard earlier to get the things out to make them but I haven't got enough stuffing mix there. I don't think the exact quantity of ingredients were on the thread, if I remember right it just said, lentils stuffing and and egg to bind them. I am definitely going to give them a go soon. I bought a tin of mixed beans the other day, its not something I would normally buy but they were only 65p for a tin and thought they could be made into burgers too with stuffing mix and lentils. I have two little ones and thought it was another way to sneakily add more variety of ingredients into their diet and hopefully they won't notice too much whats in it - worth a try x
  • I have just found another packet in the cupboard, I am gonna give them a whirl. I'll have to guess the amount of lentils!! - will let you know how i get on x

I was only thinking yesterday that I now need more containers to put in the freezer. I bought a pack of 4 lidded containers in Instore yesterday for £1.99. My chilli which i padded out with lentils is defrosting at the moment. Hope the kids like it! x

Have your considered putting a polythene bag in an existing container and removing when frozen. This works well for me. I buy the bags 80 for a pound
    (Poundland of course)

I bet the kids love their Chilli and wont even notice the lentils, Keep up the good work.

  • I've been following this thread for the last week and find it really interesting - I'm really pleased with the tips that people have passed on. Well Done Everyone!!!
I'm just wondering what basic foodstuffs you wouldn't be without in the kitchen cupboard, such as pasta, rice, herbs, red lentils etc. There are bound to be things which people keep in their cupboards that I wouldn't have thought about using before. I have learned about red lentils this week and have gone through almost a packet this week but they have gone a long way, something i would never have considered using before x

Right am really desperate this week so resorted to red lentils and paxo burgers binded with 2 eggs however like every thing similar I make like meatballs come losoe when pan frying I guess I need more eggs however result nice tasted liek stuffing hubby said as he wsent keen on lentils the other night was bit dry by itself but had brain wave served with frozen veg and yorshire puds with bisto gravy and was actualy quite nice both hubby and toddler enjoyed it!
However freezer nearly empty and used up nearly all my tins so need to do huge basic shop next week so never end up in this position as we had little in cupboards or freezer to fall back on.
Any idea of recipie for 2 tins of mushy peas? got curry sauces in jars but nothing to go in them as out of meat and veg,can you do curried broccoli? as got some of that in freezer! Also what about frozen pepper with faitta in wraps?
Howver this thread has made me more resourceful and really helped me this week as havent had as bad food week since I cant remember.
Im so proud I made hob nobs and flapjacks yesterday and sauces from scratch
