At this time of year you should be scavanging the hedgerows for blackberries etc and looking for people who have surplus apples in their gardens who might put them outside the front of their houses to be taken.
Have you joined a freecycle group in your area? Freecycle is run by Yahoo and people post wants or offers for free - no money changes hands.
You might be able to pick up surplus food from farms, gardens or allotments if you ask for it on freecycle.
The big thing in our house is that we have always eaten seasonally according to the reductions in the supermarkets as well as what we can grow ourselves. You must approach your food in a creative - go with the flow - sort of way...0 -
Its Credit Crunch that affect everyone,,,, Anywhere feed family of 4 on £20 for a month ? its a challange lol.
When i m flaty broke i use last money to spent on value ham, eggs, £1 cheese, Pasta, Fish fingers, cheap value nuggets, 4 x Jacekt poatoes for 50p at ASDA, quiche, frozen chips etc and can make chesse omelttee, jacket poatoes with cheese or baked beans, my kids are happy and didnt notice that my money were tight and the foods are cheap and healthly.
I alway suprised how much i can get foods for a fiver that may last me 2 -3 days if i m lucky.
When i get more money i still careful with foods budget but once or twice a week we get treat (why not life too short till i have no money left next time).0 -
