I've been reading this thread since it started & have loved it, but have racked my brains (what little there are!!) to figure out what YS is. Now I know - Yellow Sticker - so thank you for that.

RTC is Reduced To Clear (that one I worked out after about 1 week!!!!!):D

Thankyou for telling me what YS was! Been trying to work it out too!!

I have 6 of those veggie burgers left. Do you think I could make them into spicy bean burgers by adding beans (obviously!) and coating in breadcrumbs? Just for a bit of variety? Then I'd cook in the oven?
  • Hi
I am loving this thread, Im on maternity leave at the moment and am about to go on to no pay  so things will change a lot, the top tip i am going to try is : you guessed it lentails:rotfl: .

Mbaz, I have used tesco value nappies and they were ok, but did cause a bit of nappy rash as not breathable due to plastic coating, but tesco own brand ones are very good although obviously more money ( but still a lot cheaper than pampers/huggies etc).
I'd heard that lidl ones are good.

how old are you children, if they are going to be in nappies for a while yet why not buy just a few of the really cheap terry nappies to use just when your at home - a bit of a hassel but very cheap if you need to use them for a while yet.( I actually got a whole birth to potty set for £60 of the new style resuable ones, seconf hand but in very good condition.)

good luck for the rest of the month, and looking foward to Octobers meal plan.

  • Hi

Mbaz I have been following this thread avidly from the start, you have done very well and this has been an inspiring account of your journey! :)

Just wanted to second the earlier poster's comments concerning Tesco own brand nappies - the purple pack - they are really good and I use them all the time. Haven't tried the Value ones I'm afraid. If you wanted to be on the safe side a generous dollop of Sudocrem at each nappy change should ease the transition to cheaper nappies, especially if your little one has a sensitive bottom! :)

    HTH.

  • Hi all, butting in on this thread! Gonna be a skint month for us too because of work needing doing on the house before winter sets in so food needs to be on as strict a budget as possible. Loads of great ideas here!

Savoury crumble, someone mentioned - i make this and it always goes down well, do the flour and butter as normal and then replace the sugar with grated cheese and add a tsp of dried, mixed herbs. Hth

Will be watching this thead with interest, just gotta catch up on the last 14 pages first!!

  • I used red plit lentils to pack out a bolognaise and... had a grainy texture.

Yes, we find that too. DH & DD2 can't stand lentils for this reason which is a shame. Anyone got an advice on this?
