Computer Fan stays on :S

Hey, I recently bought a new computer and its been working great theres just 1 problem with the tower. When i go to start -> Turn Off Computer -> Shut Down, the computer goes through the whole turning off, the screen shuts off but the LED light inside the tower stays on and so does the fan...

In the end i have to keep the button on the tower pushed in until it all goes off.

Does anyone know how to change this so the Light and Fan goes off when i Shut the computer down?...

Thanks

  • Is it brand new? Sounds like the power management in the BIOS is not configured correctly maybe, if it's new and under warranty ring the support guys and get it sorted.

some PSU's keep the fans running for a time after you shut down to help prolong the comps lifespan (my Hiper Type R does it for example),could be that :)

How long does the fan usually keep going? I left it 5 minutes and it was still going:eek:

I'll go with power managment too.

Right click 'my computer' 'properties' 'hardware tab' 'device mgr'

    Expand 'Computer'

What does it say under there? ACPI Uniprocessor PC? Standard PC?

Its not a fault, some pc's have an after cooler built in to them so when you shutdown the fans stay on for a short time to continue the cooling of some components it suposedly increases the life of the components but im not convinced.

I am sure it can be disabled in the bios if you dont like it.

Its usualy del to get into BIOS. Sometimes you have to use the 'F' keys.

    F1 or F12 I think.

Does the fan turn itself off? Or would it just keep running forever?
