Hard Rock Cafe London 1971 prices!!!

I saw this in the Metro this morning, unfortunately I left it on the train as I assumed details would be on their website but they weren't, so I shall try and remember everything...

Tomorrow (Wednesday 14th [edited for correct date - thanks RufusA]) is Hard Rock Cafe London's 35th birthday - it was the first HRC, BTW. Anyway to celebrate, from noon til midnight tomorrow, they have their original 1971 menu for original 1971 prices! The menu is fairly limited, but very cheap. Items I recall were, vegetable soup for 20p, burgers and veggie burgers with fries for 50p (add 5p for cheese!), chef salad for 40p (or similar), coke float for 20p, ice cream for 25p, etcetera. Should be something to satisfy most mainstream tastes. I think overall there were about 12-15 items on the menu. All drinks are usual 2006 prices, I do remember that (tap water please!) ;)

No booking is available, so you'll have to chance it. There was a full page advert in Metro but I can't find anything on the web, so I don't know how popular it'll be.

Anyway enjoy. You can find the hard rock cafe at 150 Old Park Lane, W1Y 3LJ.

I went to it a couple of years ago with some guys from uni. The queue was a joke and when we got in so was the food.
Additionally, the drinks aren't 1971 prices they are extortinate!!

Went to this last year, it was at least a 2hour wait in the queues! Stick to KFC
  • my husband works at the hard rock. if any of you decide to go, please remember to tip your server in 2006 prices! the waiting staff work for £2.06 per hour and rely on tips to pay their rent. each year when the anniversary rolls around, hundreds of moneysavers queue up for the cheap food. the staff (who, btw, are fantastic at their jobs) put in 10-hour shifts running non-stop with no breaks only to end up with lint in their pockets at the end of the night. it's not nice to economise at someone else's expense. you wouldn't want the karma bus to hit you on your way out, would you?

A small trick to avoid the queues, go to the shop across the road and buy an All access pack,
You get a bag, 2 pin badges and a card
The card that entitles you to first available seating, the card also acts as a loyalty card and you earn 10% of your spend back the card upon registration receives an automatic £12/$20 the amounts are credited after every £120/$200 spent.
There were other gifts inside my bag so who knows what else you will get. The cost was £17 but when the card is worth £12, the pins they sell for either £6 or £8 so everything else is a bonus.

I used mine in New York a few years ago the wait was 2 hours I was seated within 10 minutes. Its a shame that only the London cafe are doing this offer as I live closer to the manchester cafe. I did hear somewhere that the rest of them are offering 20% off everything but I dont know if this is true.

Is your husband under 18? :D

I'm sure thats the only way a company like the hard rock could get away with paying under the minimum wage
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

no, some dodgy resturanter's can get around that by adding up by including the tips into staff wages. hence the £2.06. Immoral - yes. Illegal - no!
