PPI claim - public sector worker.

Hi there - hoping someone can advise me whether I have a case to claim back PPI or not....

I took out a loan in February 2009 through LLoyds TSB which is where I bank. When discussing the loan repayments, the repayment amounts quoted automatically included PPI. When I questioned this, I was advised that it would be in my best interets to take out the PPI. This was despite the fact that I am a public sector worker, so get 6 months full pay followed by 6 months half pay - sick cover. The bank worker who sold the policy knew this, as we had been discussing my employment and conditions of it earlier in the interview.

I don't know why I was so stupid agreeing to the PPI. But I did.

I was NOT told it was compulsory, although if I hadn't questioned the repayment amount I wouldn't have evn known PPI was included.

I am hoping to argue that i was mis-sold the PPI as it was not appropriate for me as I had good employment cover already, and the assistant knew this.

Do I have a case?

Thanks.

    Hi there and welcome.;)

The fact that Lloyds told you it would be in your best interests to have the PPI is mis selling in itself, where really this was in the interest of them and not yourself.

I would give it a go, and not to worry, we have all been there, now its payback time.

For more info on reclaiming with useful guidelines of reclaiming, also a checklist of mis selling reasons, as there may also be other reasons you have as well, write all that applies to you.

Check out this link and you will also come across template letters as well, if you require any help from here, please just yell, and please also keep us posted, good luck.;)

  • Thank you! I have looked at the template letters and the list of other reasons for mis-selling, but didn't think it was specific about my situation. But I shall give it a go. I'll let you know how I get on!

thanks again for the prompt response.

Good luck to you, keep at them and stand your ground, these policies are a rip off, we have a few ongoing with Lloyds at the moment.;)

Look forward to hearing the outcome on this.

Not really, as having PPI in general is in the best interest of the customer...just maybe not the bank's PPI ;)
  • I too work for the public sector (NHS) and as part of my successful claim in respect of ppi, I made reference in the letter that I had good levels of sick pay, redundancy and life assurance (as part of my pension), however, I wasn't asked about these details.

    Good luck!
