I have a big 6.5 ltr one also - I usually make enough for about 6 meals in it for us (2 adults and 2 kids part time not that they eat everything we do)

I find it is a good size for cooking a whole chicken also

Hi redrose - guess it depends how many you're cooking for. I just cook for me - I have a 3 litre one - and I get 3 or 4 meals out of it depending on what I cook. If there's more of you to feed then it may be worth sticking with the larger one.

There is 4 of us, me, hubby, son 19, and daughter 17. Me new to all this cooking large batches and freezing, my first thoughts was "oh my god we will never eat all this", and it will cost me a fortune, but i can see the sense in it, thinking about the bol sauce receipe i was looking it, it would probaly get about 3 meals out of it, guess i will stick to the large one. I am still on week to week basis about cooking. Need to get myself into buying meat in bulk for the month.

    Thanks for the replys..
