    On a side note, a lot of freeview tuners are far better than normal DAB and most of FM

    That is usually because you have a great big directional aerial on your roof as opposed to the little wire or bit of metal you do for most FM\DAB radios.

    No, its quite a bit more technical than that

    The radio channels are also available on satellite, including sky

    Maybe I should just cable up my whole flat with speakers from the Sky box...

    My downstairs neighbour just has his turned up loud enough so he can hear it in all rooms! He's the reason I got into Radio 4 in the first place :-\

    Thanks for all your replies - glad to know know the radio/alarm DD has her eye on isn't going to be obsolete in 18 months.
