So mad at Tescos!

Spoke to the lady on the phone at the middle of last week and made a one off payment to clear my account (ended up using my savings but its one less debt!) anyhow, asked the woman on the phone if this would leave a free balance and that I would be okay to close the account now and she said yes fine no trouble Mrs Williams I will do that now for you. Anyhows, today I recieved my monthly statement from them showing the payment going in and a charge of £26 in interest (payment was made on 3rd June, statement date was 7th). Why tell me the account was clear if it wasnt going to be?? I know its only £26 but at the moment its £26 I cant really afford. Only good thing is payment isnt due until 5th July and I get paid on 29th of this month so can use that pay but I just wanted the account to be closed so its one less thing to worry about! Sorry for the rant.......

If you have been advised of something by thier team that is causing you distress, take it to the top, I would
BUt then im complining a lot recently:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

I think I am going to. I love complaining and whats the worst they can say - no you got to pay the £26. I just hate people who say one thing and get your hopes up only for them to be dashed by the postman bringing another bill!0

I suppose it would be the interest that had accrued from the last statement date until the date that you paid it off, you may also have to pay a tiny bit of interest next month from this statement, until the date you pay the £26.Then it will finally be clear. We got caught out by this ourselves when we cleared a card a few months ago...
The Tesco woman should have known that though....0 -
I would complain stating that you were told the account was closed and you don't expect to pay for their mistakes. Most likely they will refund you.Barclaycard 3800

Tell them as you Closed the Account.. and They said it was Closed you feel as if they are "ripping you off" and you don't think that you should pay the £26, try it you never know they may drop the charge,,, Good Luck:beer: Keep your Chin up.. it can only get better

Complain and try and get it back, if she had told you it was another £26 on top you would have paid it to clear it, suggest that they do it purposely to keep the account open?!0

complain, complain, complain, complain, complain.
they had no right to tell you the balance was clear and the account was closed without warning you of a possibility of still accruing interest. that's their incompetence!
looking forward to hearing how it goes.MFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)
