Thank you for your offer but I rerang BT this evening and somone did that for me. They also spoke to Moorcroft who told them the same thing, that I could only deal with a doorstep caller. He was so helpful (the BT man not Moorcroft!) and couldnt understand the problem either.

EVentually I rang Moorcroft again and argued for ages and eventually they agreed to let me make a full and final settlement for half the amount they wanted if I paid tonight and so I did this and will now have my phone service back within 3 working days!!! Yay!! Success at last!! :j

Thank you all for your advice and support with this problem and I am glad it is finally resolved and I have finally paid my BT bill! lol! :T

The scary thing is that Moorcroft appear not to have your address, so therefore they are adding charges on a bill that you are not receiving.

Therefore i hope that you paid 1/2 of the original bill, and not the one that they last produced.

Strange how BT can sell on a debt, but then appear to reclaim ownership of it when it suits them?
OP, I don't understand how paying off Moorcroft can get your line reconnected again-what power do Moorcroft have to do this? I would have thought that BT will ask you for a reconnection charge and a deposit to reconnect?

Moorcroft do have my address - they confirmed it to me - I just havent had any correspondance from them.

BT havent reclaimed the debt, I paid Moorcroft and yes I paid half of what I owed BT as a F&F.

Moorcroft then phoned BT and told then that the debt was settled. I then phoned BT had this confirmed and was then put through to the sales department to start a new contract for the phone. I went through this applicaton, inluding credit check, and was approved to have the line restarted which should be complete within 3 working days. There was no reconnection charge and no deposit.

Now all I have to do is be brave and tackle all the other debts from when my hubby lost his job, at least I will have a phone line to sort it all out with! :rotfl:
