Possibly, but you need to work out cost per wash. Either way, liquid or powder is better than tablets, as most manufacturers suggest much higher amounts of product than you actually need, and with the tablets, you've less control over it. Most people these days don't do dirty jobs that make them sweat a lot, so usually half the amount of product suggested is enough.

My partener buys the biggest size boxes from Lidl and is happy with it. I have alergies so have to shell out for Ecover or similar, as the perfumes make me ill.

Ignore the number of washes shown on the box - and the recommended dosage. That's just a ploy to get you to use more powder, so you have to buy more!

I use only a third of the little dispenser thingie - sometimes only a quarter, if the clothes are lightly soiled!

experiment by using less (much less) and see if it makes any difference. It will certainly slow down the fading on darker clothes!

Absolutely right! The amount we need nowadays is substantially less than the manufacturers would have us believe. We bathe more often than some generations ago, and don't wear the same thing over and over till it's ingrained with dirt because of the advent of the washing machine. And yes, less detergent means less loss of colour. Bio will ax the colours in no time flat if used regularly.

You may also want to check out https://www.allergyuk.org for advice on allergy and products you can use.
Bio powders are much more likely to produce an allergic reaction than non-bios, another reason to avoid them.
