I would love for my OH to plan our honeymoon and I'd 100% trust him to get on with it and surprise me. I've found thought that we're pretty in tune with each other and like the same things. He surprised me with the proposal and ring and both were perfect and now when we're looking at venues we both like/hate the same things :-)
Beside marriage is about partnership - he should be involved and be able to make decisions without you.

Hi all and thanks for the replies! I think maybe my original post didnt come across too well... would just like to say that we don't have any trust issues! My only issue is that he has far more expensive tastes than mine, but since he's paying for it I guess that's fine! I just wondered what everyone else thought since a few of my friends have looked at me in horror when I said I don't know where we are going, or even when lol!

I'd definately trust mine to pick it, he's fantastic at suprises and loves to really romance me and I know he'd pick somewhere we'd both enjoy. My only concern would be he's never booked a holiday before and he only moved to England from Ireland 10 months ago, so hes not going to know how to find a good deal and I'd worry he'd paid over the odds.

I'm going against the grain here and say... no chance! But my OH is like a child when it comes to organising things. I think the controlling mother and ex never helped. I try to give him responsibility for certain things, but I think it is me that has trust issues. Like they say, if you want something done properly do it yourself! Obviously we'd decide together.

And yes, I would make perfect material for 'Don't tell the bride'!

My OH is doing ours, we looked through a brochure with pretty much every different type of honeymoon in it, and there were a few I liked, which I pointed out to him. I've since started going through marking which ones (or aspects) that I like, but I won't have any more input than that. Originally I'd thought Iceland and then Canada, but I think it might be Belize in South America now. Unfortunately it's still hurricane season when we get married, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have a minimoon (possibly in the Scottish highlands) and then honeymoon some other time. Only stipulation from me has been not to go overboard on the price, African safari looks great but £2000 each for 4 nights is ridiculous.

Don't know what time you're getting married grastgirl, but my colleague is getting married in March and doing her honeymoon in October to Kenya, 7 day safari in 3 and 4* hotels and then 7 days at the beach in a 4* resort, £1789 each with Thompsons including flights and the safari drives although most food is on top of this.

He's done a safari before and didnt enjoy it so I don't think it will be that, we both kind of like chilling out with a book and a drink by the pool, and he's always fancied the Maldives so wouldnt surprise me if its there or something like it. Anyway, long as we get some together time that's all I want. My first honeymoon we went with some friends to Tenerife and all got gastroenteritis lol, second one we went to Cornwall on a bike and it rained all week, so neither were particularly romantic!!!

  • My fiance will be planning and booking the wedding night accomodation and our honeymoon. He has said that it will be in Scotland but I know no more than that. It is tradition that the groom organises the honeymoon, and we are doing other things traditionally.
I do wonder about what he will have organised, I think it is only natural, but at the end of the day I do trust him 100%; like Kildare he managed to surprise me with the proposal and ring which were both perfect. If you don't trust your fiance to organise your honeymoon, and they found out about your mistrust, they would be devastated. I agree that a marriage is based upon trust and this has to start right from the very beginning!

My fianc!e is organising everything wedding day related I sort the Honeymoon.

3 Weeks in Thailand, mix of Big city/Spa resort/Jungle trekking/rafting/elephants/ and beaches. A good combination of activities to suit both our tastes.

The only surprise is the Biz class flights.

Have managed in my capacity as hopeless man to:

    Book flights
Sort holiday jabs, (2 armfulls and a bumfull!)
Sort itinerary, and hire independent guides
    Sort independent luxury transfers
Sort malaria tabs, and squitty tum tabs etc

How much is that costing you? I'm only being nosy as I'd LOVE that sort of honeymoon!:o
