Abbey gone into meltdown with new security features?

Logged into my Abbey savings accounts online today and went to send some money to other banks, which I do every month, only to get an error code.
Phoned up tech support to be told that this is an issue with many people's payments, due to some charcters in their existing payment setups. This is a result of their new security features.
So, I have had 2 lots of payment info deleted (because some of my references were in lower case!) by tech support in an attempt to unblock my account but that didn't work and still I can't access that part of my online banking.
Now I have been told to wait 24/48 hours whilst they put in a support request for me!
Looks like it's time for me to lock horns again with Abbey...

I wonder if this is in response to the spam/fraud emails Abbey account holders were getting?0

Just tried logging in to my Abbey Current Account with no success, anybody else had problems Today.0

I had no need to go there but did to see. No success either. Something about this website being unable to perform request, giving a technical helpline number. Is that what you are getting?0

Not just Abbey - A&L from the same Santander stable has given me grief today. I've got into a loop of them deciding to lock my account (after allowing access within the previous hour) and when I call the 0844 number provided find they decide the "service is not available" though they still invite me to go back in the circle and enter my details again ,,,,0

Abbey is working now. I had to register my mobile phone with them for their One Time Passcode (OTP) which will used for verification of online transactions. As the name implies, when you make an online transaction a code gets texted which you have to enter (bit like LTSB do for setting up a new payee). Doesn't operate to transfer between Abbey accounts though because I tried it.0
