Electrolux oven problem

Hi

I have an Electrolux EOB5630W fan assisted electric oven, its about 4 years old. Out of the blue the oven seems to cut out when it reaches about 100 degrees, the fan will stop, the light will go out and the heating element switches off.
There is still power to the oven as the power light is still on. I thought this would be a simple case of replacing the thermostat BUT when this fault occurs its different to the thermostats normal operation...

Normal - the oven reaches temp and the heating element switches off, the light and fan stay on.

My fault - before the oven reaches temp - everything switches off (light, fan, element). I then have to wait for hours before it will come back on, usually once I've switched off an on the main power switch.

Any help would be great as a neighbor had the same problem but spent money on a new oven - I haven't got money :o(

Thanks

Joe

Google is your friend... Take a look at this:

Look for the 'Cooker Overheat Protection Thermostat' No guarantee this is the problem, but it does sound like a thermal cutout is tripping at too low a temperature.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.
  • many thanks for the replies, at this point it looks like the Overheat Protection Thermostat and at a small price its worth a try as a starting point.

As soon as I've fitted it I will post my findings.

    thanks again!

  • hi
my husband who is an appliance repair chappie knows what the problem is likely to be, but is having a touch of alzeimers at the moment ( that or all the late nights we have been having lately!) and cant remember the part number you need. can you wait till monday till he rings his suppliers? :o he thinks the part will be about £24 and is assuring you its easy to fit!!
  • thanks! Yes I can wait, pls let me know if he manages to find out

    Cheers!
  • It was in fact the "oven cooling fan control" which cost me about £25! So a bargain fix. My oven is now fully working!
As I cant post web site links, if anyone needs one have a look on Google or try UK white goods as a supplier (of course you don't have to buy from them)
    Many thanks all!
