ssp to incapacity

My SSP is due to stop in about 4 weeks, I was only discharged from hospital 10days ago after spending 5 months there due to depression. I will be claiming incapacity when my SSP is finished as I can not see me returning to work in the near future.

Is the change over a smooth process or could they refuse my claim for IB? My doctor and hospital consultant have both said I should not even think about work at the minute but I cannot help worrying.

Yes I agree you shouldn't worry about it. If there are any problems, get on to the professionals you are already dealing with for help in sorting it out. Hopefully there won't be though.

  • what may help to get the ball rolling is if you can make sure your employer completes the relevant paperwork, which informs the dept exactly how much ssp you've had-you're employer should be forwarding the SSP1 out to you in the post if you're ssp is about to end. There's a section on the form you complete and send on.
Easy for me to say but, try not to worry- if you canm, get a close friend or family member to help you out, let someone else do the worrying for you...and good luck with everything...

I have asked my employer to confirm that date me SSP finishes and to send me the SSP1. I get paid on the 20th each month so may get this alone with my payslip on 20th
