Argos refund policy

Options
My mother bought a washing machine from our local Argos store, as soon as it was delivered she began using it. On it's first cycle it stuck and a light came on. She contacted the help desk and they said she had to contact the after sales team. They have arranged an engineer to come to repair it, but my greivance is that they have sold a product unfit for purpose and should uplift it, refund us so we can pick another model. Does anyone think I am correct?

Many thanks

I bought a fridge freezer that had something broken when it came. I phoned up argos, and they arranged for a new one to be sent out to me. I hadn't used it, as I could clearly see it was broken. I What did they say, when you asked for a replacement?

I tend to agree that the washer should be replaced, and suggest that you make this very clear to the sales team. I am not sure what your legal rights are, though, on a first fault. Have you got the guarantee which came with it? What does that say?

They probably want to send out the engineer to check it's plumbed in properly. It may not be a fault with the machne. If it is, then yes, get a new one as it's not fit for purpose.

If she is using the machine for money laundering purposes, then tell her to go easy on the fabric conditioner as it makes the notes go floppy.

We had this with Comet over 2 years ago.

The dryer we had purchased was tripping the electrics 2 days after purchase. We were fuming about it, but had to go with there advice of having the engineer come out to repair it.

The only advice i can give is to start searching the history of the washing machine, and if it has any fault trends.

On, this should be in the "In the Home (DIY Forum)"

  • you do have the right to a refund/replacement after such a short time, however, argos also have the right to come out and inspect the appliance before offering a refund/replacement
