Satelite advise

Hello to all,
Some advise about satelite systems please.Im fed up with sky but my options are limited so i wondered what satelite systems i could buy to receive most of the same channels i get on sky.Im not to bothered about sports but the kids programes would be good.
Could i use my sky dish i have now etc etc.Any help would be great.

    Your simplest option would be Freesat. You can use the Sky dish without changing anything and if you get the correct viewing card from Sky you can use the Skybox too. The other Freesat option is to buy a dedicated Freesat box.

    Moving away from Freesat it is possible to receive other channels from the Astra satellite using the Sky dish and a general satellite box but most would be foreign language or susbscription. There are other satellites too such as Hotbird which would require an additional dish or a steerable one.

    I don't think any of those options offer much in the way of childrens channels though other than the BBC ones.

    As above, quit the subscription and replace the Sky box with a Freesat or FreesatHD box, it's all completely compatible.

    Freesat is great, but your simplest option is just to cancel your sky subscription and you will then get all the free channels with your Sky box and viewing card. Its called freesat from sky.

    It depends on which kids channels you're talking about as many of them are subscription only.

    Easiest way is to pull your sky card out the box. That way you can see what channels you're left with.
