Faulty Zanussi Cooker

Options
Hi,

My first post and I need some advice please. My mum bought a Zanussi Gas Cooker in September from Currys, since then she has had to call them out twice, the first time a chunk of the enamel fell off and they replaced the top (they agreed it was a manufacturing fault). 2 weeks ago when she was cooking dinner the electrics in the cooker blew so she was without a cooker for a week until they came out, couldnt repair it so she had to wait for a part to be ordered and for them to come again. Now the top oven isnt heating up properly, it gets to a certain level but the flame at the back isnt lighting up right across and when you turn the numbers up it doesnt get hotter and a couple of times it has gone out, the bottom oven on the other hand is cooking too high so she has got to call them out yet again. I was wondering what her rights are concerning asking for a replacement cooker or if she has to just keep calling them out each time it goes wrong, also is it Currys who should sort it out or Zanussi. She took out the extended warranty when she bought the cooker.

Thanks in advance

Sandra

No, it's Currys who should sort it out. I would call them out again and see if it can be repaired on-site. If they need to go and get a part, I would then give Whateverhappens (or get the store to do it) a call to see if they'd write it off.

I know the fault has been different each time, which may count against you. But an operator did once tell me they normally write off after three repairs, though that is not an official rule, and it may have just been down to the person I spoke to.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

  • Thank you for your advice, the enginneer is coming to look at it again Wednesday so we will see what happens then.
