Unable to get throuogh Sky customer service

I have been trying since last tuesday to get through sky customer service and got cut off after 20 mins in the queue. This has been going on and off until today, I have managed to get through another department. Is it because I am using an laternative number instead of the 0870 which would have cost me a fortune? Fed up with sky and nearly told them where to go as I have to pay £65 for a call out. Had to put up with their bad service since hubby cannot do without it.

I've never managed to get through on their non-0870 numbers. Had to resort to paying their extortionate prices last night, but then I did get my package  down-priced to £13.50 for 3 months, so worth it.  ;D

How come you have to pay the £65?  There are other threads on here where people have said they've managed to get the call out for free?

Had to pay £65 for the engineer to come out on Tuesday. Apparently I should tell them I am cancelling my subscription and this sometimes work but I dare not take the risk in case they took me seriously and cancel. I am not bothered with sky but it is hubby who cannot do without it. It has happened, I guess it depends who you get. Do you think, it is easier to get through their 0879 numbers? I can get through their technical customer care number with no problem using the alternative number.
