Bankruptcy & Tesco Car Ins

Options
hi everyone,

Thought I would share this with you - it might be useful for some of you guys out there with Tesco Car insurance.

I read on the board that some Insurance companys don't like to insure Bankrupts. So, nervously I rang Tesco and asked them 2 questions (building up to the Bankruptcy one !):

1) My car is off the road (cant afford MOT & Tax yet - saving up.. so I have the opportunity of driving my friends car when i need to). So I asked, did my policy cover me to drive another car albeit 3rd Party (its a common myth that all fully comp policys do - so check before you drive!). They confirmed yes :T BUT...... for emergencies only, not for use on a regular basis :(. They went on to say that I would need to be added to my friends insurance.

2) As I have been made bankrupt will they still cover me on my car. Answer - yes, but I will need to check with the accounts dept (not open sundays) because my policy may need to be paid upfront - monthly payments are a form of credit facility and this wouldnt be allowed. Hey ho. I will let you know the outcome when I phone them on Monday.

My policy is due up in Feb 2010 so I guess I will need to save for that too. Guess these are the downside, unless someone of you good people can advise me of a company that will let me pay monthly without extortionate interest rates of course!

So, all in all it looks ok for Tesco cover - albeit payment upfront.

I feel a bit down, but positive too. Does that make sense? I hate having to tell people I am bankrupt ! I feel like I have committed a huge crime - but I havent! The lady on the phone was lovely so again I have no reason to feel as I do.

I know it will get easier as time goes on, but its these sorts of things that are a real pain in the butt!

On a good note, I got a letter from the RTLU saying that they will be applying for early discharge ! :T So, wont be long now. At least then I can say, I am discharged - which somehow seems better.

So, anyway, I hope this helps someone.

Ignore the moany bits! Juggling things can be hard sometimes, but at least there are no wolves at the door anymore! I know where I am and I now plan for the future - DEBT FREE :j

Night night everyone xx
