I get these symptoms if I have Javascript disabled (i.e. MSE is set as not trusted by Noscript).

Is your browser security set to not allow Javascript?

  • ok so now i googled how to enable java scriptwent through it all Open Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. On the Security tab, click Internet. Click Custom Level. (Fig.1) Scroll down to Active scripting. Click Enable (or Prompt). (Fig.2) Click OK. Click Yes. Click OK.and it was enabled anyway, so i disabled then enabled it again and it's still not making a difference arghhhhhhhhhhh
  • now im messing arround with the editor modes in
user cp to see if this makes a difference.

although i am sure it will not as i still have the error message in the bottom left hand side of my screen

i only have this error message on the mse forums, it is not showing on any other site i go on
  • Ok i went onto user cp.

Then under settings and options, went into edit options.

Then under Miscellaneous Options, i changed it to basic editor - a simple text box.

This has seemed to solve the problem although now i have no icons on the right hand side of my text box

and still the error message in bottom left hand side of screen.
  • But everytime i change it back to one of the other modes i get the same problem of dissapearing paragraphs and no icons.

Confussed but happy as now it's not all bunched up.

You need to be careful about generally allowing active content - many web-based malwares use this to install themselves on your PC.

A better solution is to reset your general security setting to be higher (i.e. not allow active content), and then to add MSE to your "Trusted Zone" in IE. If you do this for just the sites that you need to trust, you will be less vulnerable to web-based nasties.

If you are happy to use Firefox instead, it might resolve the problem.
