I'm about to buy two..yes two :( laptops for my daughters...like most people looking for a laptop there are so many to choose from it's mind boggling...anyhow I've wittled it down to 4..decisions decisions.

I have a daft question...when at home do I connect into any phone socket to use my normal IP and do I need a filter?...and if I bought a wireless router can I put it anywhere in the house or has it got to be by the laptop?

    John lewis have a price match on untill midnight and the wireless router can be any where
    Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.

    Wifi router can be anywhere in the house but you might find dead areas in the house. but it would be a case of moving the router or even fiddling with the antenna.

    What do your Daughters want from a laptop, what will they use it for, quote any particular programs if you know of any.

    Where as the sony has the brand, the acer has a dedicated graphics and more RAM, not sure the processor comparison with the AMD and the Intel, but they are rather close. and the price is £100 difference in favour of the Acer.

    going back to this...when these companies display their laptops on the site and they also show 'what you also may need' ...I can't see a wireless router...surely that is an essential piece of kit?...
