Following is the letter my wife composed and has sent to to Santander Cards UK/ Outfit. Fortunately she reads everything, including the very thick pack that came attached to my statement from Santander. Personally I had already mentally ditched that part of it, which is I suspect exactly what they wanted to happen. Any way ....
Dear Sirs
Thank you for your notification of changes to my ‘Outfit’ card terms and conditions the most relevant of which are Condition 4.4. and 7.1
Store cards are a convenient way for your customers to purchase goods at any time of the month and pay when their salary reaches the bank – that is the CUSTOMERS’S ADVANTAGE. The advantage to you is that because we have a store card we look in your stores first for a jumper etc (loyalty) that is YOUR ADVANTAGE.
As you have now removed any advantage to your customers (and I believe are the first to do so in this country – there is no reason at all left for me to clutter up my wallet with your card and I therefore confirm that I have cut my card up and enclose my full and final payment.
Incidentally when my accounts are in credit – you should be paying me interest – not the other way around.
Additionally your changes to terms and conditions received yesterday was retrospective as it applies from 27 October (a month ago!) which is totally illegal, customers should have been told before the event.
Regards
P.S. I hope you enjoy your mandatory Christmas bonus but I will not be contributing !!

Maybe it would help if you told us what term Santander changed exactly, that prompted to you write this somewhat out-of-context letter?0

Sounds like one of
o an increase in interest rate
o introduction of a charge for allowing the card to be in credit
o a reduction in any interest-free period.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -

Some underling at the card co will have a little giggle at it. Bit of a waste of ink to be truthful.0 -

Complete non-thinking rant.
Banks are not obliged to give you free money. If you don't like it move your business somewhere else (if you can find someone who wants it).
Although banks have finally clicked that they need to make money to have money, many punters haven't quite 'got it' yet. They will though. Very shortly.0 -
It makes as much sense,as telling the punch line of a joke without the proceeding story.0
