Red head bullying

I think that teaching her to act like she doesn't care is the best option. Bullies do get bored if they don't get a reaction.
To be honest if it wasn't her hair it would be something else. One girl in my class got bullied for being overweight and plain and another got bullied because she was beautiful and had a stunning figure. I got bullied for having big boobs and my friend got bullied for being flat as a pancake. Kids will pick up on anything and everything.0 -
Me and my older sis are the ONLY people allowed to comment upon or tease my other 3 sisters for their ginger hair. This is mainly because the middle redhead is a feisty cow who used to beat up the boys for calling her a gwa (tern used where I'm from for a ginger) and my little redhead sis used to beat them up too! They learnt to leave them alone! Whereas my niece has lovely hair, she's ginger, but we do always say if we put a brown wig on her ,she'd be the spit of me at six!
That's the way to teach bullies a lesson. Ask them if they have ever heard of the saying 'don't mess with a ginger' or about redheads tempers and then follow it with a crack in the jaw :rotfl: Never to be bullied again! from a redhead who took no !!!! :TIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
ali-t, I know she's my sister, but the middle redhead is a stunner. She's properly strawberry blonde, nearly 6 ft tall and lovely. She also does a lot of sports.....which came in useful when someone tried to beat her up in a nightclub recently.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

No, that's the way to get arrested, charged with assault and expelled from school.0 -
My son had naturally red hair when he was at secondary school. He had some great one liners if anyone took the mickey.
One was ' yeah I've got ginger hair but what are you going to do for a
a face when the monkey wants it.s a*** back?'

I saw 2 out of the 3 girls yesterday at Tutor day, one was massive must have been 5 ft 10 and 12 and big with it and the other although she 'does modelling'! dyes her hair blonde from dark and has quite a hawk nose for 12 - don't think she will be getting much work until the rest of her face catches up with her nose.
My DD looked petite and cute next to them although she hates being small. ( I am 5'2", she will probably be a bit taller around 5'3" - the kids around here are massive!) Teacher agreed, as my DD wouldn't name names, to have an assembly on differences, weight, height, hair colour etc. next monday.
TBH I think that that sort of assembly ought to be a regular - we are all different and bullying is not OK. If you see it or have it happen report it. The only problem is their bullying policy is to name names, talk to the kids involved etc. which is fine if it has gone beyond this level, but at this point would make it worse. IMHO it should be stopped before it starts.
DD apparently has settled into her new school very well and is confident and comfortable, she was just a bit tearful on sunday after a sleepover! ( over tired!!), but this highlighting my hair is coming up more and more, so needs stopping now.
She needs some one liners and we are getting some. When I was picked on I would give as good back and that didn't work as it gave the bullies the attention they craved! My son apparently ( he didn't tell me and I feel very guilty for that) threatened to flatten the kid that was bullying him 3 years ago - his nickname was Karate Kid ( which incidentally he didn't like, but obviously helped in this instance!)0 -

That's a brilliant observation, that has me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have been talking to someone who was bullied because of the first name that her parents saddled her with. As well as the one-liners, she would recommend a very boring and repetitive response, which is strong and assertive at the same time.
Them: 'I'd have to wear a hat if I had ginger hair like yours'
DD: 'I like it'
Them: 'It's really ugly. I couldn't even bear to touch it'
DD: 'I like it'.
Them: 'I'd dye it - I've never seen such minging hair',
DD: 'I like it'.
With every catty and cutting remark, DD should just repeat the mantra 'I like it' over and over and over again.
Having said that, I think your daughter can learn some very good tricks from her dear mother (see the quote above) :A0 -

DD1 went to kickboxing when 10. Her physical confidence meant she was better equipped than some children to cope with the abuse at senior school. She loved it!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Well JS it did stand my DS in good stead with his problem although I wouldn't have recommended he follow through as a 13 year old Brown and 2 white ( 1 below black) he could have found himself on a GBH charge!! My DD was an Orange Karate belt when she was 7! Perhaps she should take it up again, with her temper and Karate I had better duck!0
