Netbook network troubles..

Just bought a netbook and i'm having trouble connecting it to my router.. The router is a B/G router and the netbook has wireless N connectivity, would this be why?
Any help would be appreciated :)

Those protocols should be backward compatible.

So what is it doing can you see the Network you want to connect to on the Netbook? I would turn off all security on the router get it working then put the security back on (in fact I would not bother with the security but that is another debate).

AFAIK 802.11n wireless cards are backwards compatible to connect to 802.11g routers, but they will be connected at G, and have no benefits of N (speed/distance etc,).

I can see the network and the netbook did connect to a different network successfully.
Took the security off and it connected but when i put it back on again it disconnected.. Don't really want to have no security on my router, anyone could connect to it!

OK so you have got to get the security settings matching on the netbook with those on the router.
