First attempt at tiara what do you think?

After looking around for tiaras they were coming in at around the £55 mark and i could not justify spending that amount of money on just my tiara, so i had a look on ebay and bought crystals, wire and tiara frames enough for two for just over £11. Here is my first attempt and will be my maid of honours one, what do you think?

not to put a dampner on your efforts but just to let you know i found my tiara on ebay for £15 inc postage and it looks so much more beautiful than any i tried on in the bridal shop when getting my dress.
but for homemade that is very impressive.
and not wanting to hijack your thread but you mention that it will be for your maid of honour- is it expected that you get tiaras for MoH and/or bridesmaids? just wondered as i hadn't even thought of getting them any.0 -

I have bought everyhting for all of my bridesmaids, including the shoes and jewellery. I think it's only fair tbh, I saved money on it all by buying everything on Ebay and they are having different dresses but the same colour, which made it cheaper for me, hth Tiger xMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150 -
I think that's a really good effort, I wouldn't know where to start! I do think that maybe it could do with a bit more colour or crystals? That's just my personal opinion though. I think it makes the wedding really special if the bride has made things herself like the bouquets or favours. I'm going to make some little bracelets for my flower girls but that's were my talent ends!2010 Comp wins: Lamaze baby toy, Cushelle koala, Frusli bars, knitted monkey, nursery rhyme DVD

I think it is down to you really, my moh wanted a tiara and was prepared to pay for it herself but she had a small budget and i wanted her to have one that matched mine so i decided on this route. I did look at ones on ebay but i wanted 2 that matched but not the same and i was quite confident in myself that i could make them, i haven't made one before and i am very please with the out come, and it only took me an hour to make.
For mine it will be taller with more crystals, i will post pics once i have done it :T:smileyhea Getting married on, 05/06/10 :smileyhea0 -
If your Maid of Honour said she didn't like it, would you be offended? It's a good effort but I don't think it's quite there, sorry

Did they get to decide what you bought? Or did you just go ahead and buy it and tell them that's what they're wearing?
I've managed to get through the whole of the wedding planning without using eBay, but that's just my personal preference. 2 of the girls are 7 and 8 and I've bought dresses, shoes and hair slides, my sister who is 23 I have bought her dress, shoes and shrug. If she wants to accessorize with anything else, that's up to her.,___,

I think they need a little pizazzzz if you know what I mean, obviously tho thats only my opinion and i would like a bit more bling.
Iv got 5 BM, iv bought the 3 young ones dresses but my 2 best friends have bought their own because they know money is tight for me, iv bought everything else....The 3 youngest have have tiaras from Claires and the 2 oldest have had a headband type thing from my bridal shop, they were £45 each so I have got them as part of their Xmas pressie. They have also bought their own shoes because that way they got what they found to be comfy. Im buying Jewellery and everything else they need xxx0 -
Well done on your effort, and from someone who is crafty, that's a compliment.
But
Sorry i don't like it................................sorry...........as it is i mean....................it needs more.
it has something missing...................plus the pictures are not the best, but it looks lacking in the perl, diamonds department for me.
But it is all down to choice and if you do like them, and are happy with them, then hey go with them.......................but if your asking for opinions, well it does need a bit ofpizazzzz0 -
Personally I really like it, I find the "blingy" ones in shops a little too much and I think it's pretty and delicate, and just enough to add some sparkle. I hadn't thought of making one, but if I could summon the patience, I would consider something like this. Well done you, and nice one for doing it for your friend.
Just out of curiousity, what colour hair have you both got? Just wondering about stealing your ideas and how it would look!Bump due 22nd September0
