I am not sure but I think they have to have known you personally for x amount of years.

We are going to have trouble getting our signed as well as our doctor wont do it any more either even though they charged £15 a time

You do have to have known the applicant personally for at least two years so the bank should not do it unless you do actually now the countersignatory.

    What about you dentist?

What about a neighbour who is a nurse or teacher etc, it can be anyone who has a professional qualification who has know you for at least two years.

I got my boss (bank manager) to sign mine. Do you know a local priest who knows you well enough to help?

anyone in a 'senior' position at a company can sign it, so i just took ours into work and got my manager to sign them.

If it's a renewal you dont have to get them countersigned. Thats only for if youve drastically changed your appearance or if it's a first passport.

Mine was a renewal and I did choose to get it countersigned. I thought it best because my new photo was very different to my old one and I didn't have the time for the possibility that the Passport Office would refuse it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I had a work colleague sign mine as I used to work for the Inland Revenue and a civil servant can sign your passport photos also.
