I'm sick of the way Britain is being run.
If we continue down this route we will go bankrupt, pure and simple.[/QUOTE]
I t y f we probably are
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Is anyone aware of an organisation that is pushing for this sort of thing to happen?
I have tried googling for an anti benefits/welfare movement but all I get is pages explaining how to claim benefits!
I would very much like to join a pressure group or some such that is anti welfare.0 -

Everyone who receives states benefits should be made to do work for the state with the possible exception of some on disability allowance (depending on the nature of the disability and the work they were made to do).
If they refuse to do this work then their benefits would be reduced to the very very bare minimum (food stamps and small, cramped accommodation).
People on benefits should NOT be in a better position than those who are employed. Otherwise there is no impetus to work!
There has to be a deterrent to being on benefits and very obvious positives from not being on benefits.
I would vote for any party that promised this, with the exception of the BNP.
What about carers? You know, the ones which save the state a hell of a lot of money which they would have to pay out if the carers decided not to care....much more than is paid out for while they are caring.
I have an impetus to work, anything to get out of this !!!!!! life I have now, to have social contact with people other than those involved in education or health, to use the brain I was born with and to feel like a proper member of society.
Yeah, I am grumpy tonight, ex husband is down for his annual visit and peeing me off.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Aaaah, the old 'let the old, young, sick, disabled and unable to work, die on the streets as long as it doesn't affect me arguement'..
We've moved on a bit since 1899.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

We've moved on a bit since 1899.
Moved a little too far probably when a normal working person can work hard all their life and still find that they are worse of than people who haven't done a days work in their life."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Sorry to pry, you seem to come up with some very fair opinions about your situation, but why is your ex not supporting his child?0 -
He supports the children (we have 3) with maintenace which until the changes, the majority is/was taken into account for the benefits. The amount is not very high (barely £120 a month) as he is now employed in a minimum wage job.....he used to be in a 40k+ job.
If you mean support as in emotional and practical support....erm, he seems to have a few problems there, he believes he should have fun, holidays and relaxation time and I should live a life of purgatory, hence my being grumpy right now.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. He probably knows how fabulously well you handle it Sue :T - which is not in any way an excuse, BTW.0

Not sure if its been said before but 1600 per week rent is only half the story. I bet they get 100% of council tax paid as well usually just less than half the rent. That would take it to about 3K per week.
Then I bet they get child benefit for all those kids plus child tax credit, then he is probably either on sickness ben or JSA income support or something.
Not to mention I bet ALL the kids get free school dinners and school uniforms etc etc.
All told I bet he is on the same money or MORE money than a doctor or Solicitor with that many kids renting the same places.
There must be a stop to this madness.0
