Playstation 3 & HD

Afternoon all,

I'm planning on getting myself a PS3 when I can get one in a relatively good deal, but we don't have a HD TV yet. Is a HD TV essential for a PS3 or is it something we can go without for the the immediate future?

    DS has a PS3 and we don't have an HD tv and he manages to play fine

    well you have all the main features, you just lose its graphic abilities.

    you wouldnt think it noticeable but if you use hdmi regularly for hd and go back to scart, boy do you notice the difference
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

    You dont HAVE to have HD. But then the whole point of the next gen consoles is to have HD
    If you play online you would also be at a major disadvantage to others as theyll see you way before you see them

    As the others say its not a requirement to have a HD tv, the console would still play fine but it would just be the picture would be not as good with a hd tv,
