Dell latitude C600 problem

Got my laptop back form the shop,it s knackered i have been told,when the power is booted up it shorts and cuts off,nothing wring with the power pack,Dell told me its the motherboard.
Have i any options left b4 i sell on ebay for spares,guess the screen adn power supply would be okay.

help appreciated

    have you tried it without the battery in, and reseated all the chips, ram, hd?

    Does it do the consistently as soon as you switch it on, or after some time?

    take em out and put them back in making sure they're all lined up and installed correctly etc.
