Lower interest rates... .

I can't get a new 0% credit card so my current plan is to try to lower the interest on my current cards. Currently the interest rate on my HSBC one is 14.9% and Capital One is 15.9%. I owe £2000 on my Capital One and £300 on my HSBC one. I've had a current account with HSBC for over five years, and just wondered whether they're likely to agree to lower my interest rate.

I'm quite nervous. What should I say...? Should I say that I owe £2000 to Capital One, that I'd like to owe it to you instead, but obviously at a lower interest rate than you're currently offering me...? Also, would it be better to go into the branch or phone up...? Thanks... .

If you arent looking for a new card then I would have thought a debt consolidation loan may be the way to get the lowest interest rate.

It would be hard to get a low interest rate for a loan of just £2,000. Why can't you get a 0% card?

I've tried applying for 0% interest cards, and they just won't give me one...!
