Giving up smoking the second time around

ok, i tried to give up smoking a few months ago, and i failed miserably, so here I am for the second time around!!!!! I really dont want to smoke any more, i dont enjoy it and I am fed up of the smell of it on my clothes and hair  . Cant afford to do it at all. And I am fed up of going into a blind panic every time I run out of money two days before pay day and have to figure out how I am going to be able to get some cigs till then. I would much rather spend the money I spend on cigs on my debt and savings for something I really want :j . I hope that this time I am more sucessfull. No in fact I am determined. I worked out that I have spent £3650 on cigarettes in the last two years!!!  . Off to smoke my last one now, and thats it. Good luck to any one else trying to give up and well done to any non smokers,

ok, thats the last one gone :T . I ma going to clean my house completly tonight and get rid of the horrible smell. I have also decided to save the £5 per day to pay extra on my debts as thats £35 per week i am going to take £5 of it per week and save it for me. That means every month i will have some money for me to do with what i decide  . Here goes, away to brush my teeth and mouthwash to get rid of the taste.

Good luck.
I too am a lapsed ex smoker! I gave up about 2 yrs ago for about 18 months and gave in again about 6 mths ago.
I too want to give up and know how hard it is .
Just wanted to wish you the best - let us know how it's going. (I'm expecting the first nicotine withdrawal rant in about 36 hrs!!!)
Take care

Good luck to you both. I have just helped my dad stop smoking its been 11 weeks now and he is doing well!!
You know you can attend smoking cessation clinics and get all the assistance you need weather it nicotine replacement or support for free.
Once again good luck and well done for making the choice.DFW NERD 276: Proud to be dealing with my debts.Champagne taste and lemonade money!!!

Good luck, hope you do it.
It may help you at the beginning to put the money in a jar where you can physically see it mounting up and know that every bit of money in there is a little bit more off your debt.
Or open a separate bank account for the 'smoking' money.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Alan Carr - Easyway to give up smoking. I can't recommend it enough, worked for me, went from 20 a day for 10 years, to none now since October 6th. No serious cravings, no difficulty, seriously!!! Its the best!0

Bellie! You are doing the right thing! I think it is a good idea to put the money in a jar (would probably be a bit too tempting for me personally!) or another account called 'All the money I am saving from being a fantastic healthy DFW non-smoker!'
Let us know how you get on...
You can do it!

Well done on your decision. I used the Alan Carr book too, & gave up 8 years ago. I can honestly say, that I now wonder why I fell under the spell for so long (about 10 years), as I had tried to give up a few times prior to my success. Once, I'd got through the first 6 months though I never craved one again. This is not as hard as it sounds - believe what the book says. Cigarettes are not as addictive as the tobacco industry would have you believe.0

Good luck - you WILL succeed and you ARE now a non-smoker!
