Wifi radios - is there such a thing?

O.K. so I'll be the first to admitI am out of touch with technology, but is there such a thing as a radio that can be tuned in to wi-fi signals and then tuned to a station that you want?.....especially abroad, will it select a u.k station over another on the same frequency?

What's about?

thanks
DT

Yes there are. But you seem a bit confused as to how they work they don't use frequencies like a FM or DAB radio.

They connect to the internet via Wifi that you provide they can access thousands of different stations including all BBC.

If you've got Sky then you can use a Sky Gnome. You can listen to 100+ radio stations received on the Sky box on the Gnome.

Sky no longer sell them but they are available on eBay (about £20-£30). Works up to 30 metres from your Sky box.

Some Internet Radios (e.g. Roberts) can also have an ethernet wired connection, as well as a wireless connection. You may prefer the one or the other.
  • My iPod touch does it to, with a cheap app (about 0.59p)

PC's do it as well as laptops and netbooks web enabled mobile phones. If it can pick up a wifi signal then that's all you need. Isn't the web wonderful.
