Depends if you want legal and guaranteed, or immigrant/black market and not a prayer of a guarantee, I'm absolutely sure the second will produce the price, but will they produce the quality of the first?

My friend was quoted £15K to paint her North London end of terrace Edwardian house inside and outside :eek:

Then she found a Polish guy that quoted her £7K.

Guess who got the job. He is doing a great job BTW.

I was chatting to a friend yesterday whose other half is an internal decorator, and he charges £70/day which is apparently cheap for London.

That's incredibly cheap for London, I really don't know of many trades charging less than £150 a day in the London area now, and most trades I employ are upwards of £200 per day.

As with everything like this, it is of course most definitely good to shop around.

I live in SE London and recently had my living room walls sanded, filled and papered. The highest quote we had for what was a one and a half day job including materials was £350, but we eventually went with a guy who was a member of some form of proffesional organisation and did a fantastic job for 195 including materials.

Got him through a card in the local Costcutter window.
