I have been given a Dell 5150, but the wife does not like the look of it ( I intend to connect it to the tele). Is it possible to fit it in a better looking case?

If so links to ebuyer or play appreaciated.

What an odd question! What does your wife expect a computer system unit to look like? If you want 'design', buy an Apple - and pay through the nose. Perhaps construct an 'antique' wooden case with a fan to draw the air through. Or hide it behind something.

Why do you want to connect it to the TV? And using which sort of connection?

Checked on the dell site and unfortunately 5150 has an unusual form factor called "BTX" so won;t fit in a standard ATX case that a standard PC uses.

I couldn;t find a single BTX compatible case on ebuyer and most of the manufacturers of 'premium' cases are ATX only so looks like you may be a bit stuck....

I guess you could look at options for streaming content to your TV instead?

PS sounds like a very reasonalbe question to me, poster above appears to a complete idiot -hope my reply was slightly more useful :)

At the moment I have a very old dell desktop, its the same size as a small VCR and black. It lives under the television and looks ok. Problem is its not really up to the job. I have maxed out the ram at 1gb and the proccesor is 1.5. I use it for iplayer, downloads and music. It does the job but its a bit slow. It wont take a full size graphics card ( its old agp anyhow). Its connected by a computer monitor lead to an LCD TV.

The father in law is chucking out his dell 5150 which is better spec. I was thinking about putting a decent graphics card in it ( hdmi out?), putting it in a "better box" if possible to keep the wife happy . Might even fit a blue ray drive?
    Im open to suggestions.

An apple would be nice, but Im on a budget of around fifty quid.

checked google and BTX isn;t as rare as first thought, seems to be a few dual standard ATX/BTX cases out there:
