Hello everyone
My old PC is on it's last legs, and I'm looking for a replacement. Idealy it needs to be just as powerful. I was hoping for a Shuttle type PC, possibly to go under the TV and to move about.
Main use is for DVD/Blu Ray watching & Paint shop Pro use. Not modern games.
My old system looks look this:
Windows XP
Amd 4800x2 Processor
2GB DDR2
250Mb HDD
512MB ATI 1900xt
Two systems I've found so far look okay although one is a bit pricey for me:
MESH CUTE PC
Windows 7 Premium
AMD II X2 250 Processor (3Ghz)
4GB DDR 667 Ram
256MB (up to 1024MB) ATI Radeon HD3200 On-board Graphics
500GB HDD
7.1 onboard Soundcard
Blu Ray reader/DVD Writer
£396
SHUTTLE PC (from CCL Online)
Windows 7 Premium
Athlon64 X2 6000 Processor (2x3Ghz)
4GB DDR 800 Ram
1024MB ATI Radeon HD 4650
500GB HDD
7.1 onboard Soundcard
Blu Ray reader/DVD Writer
877 euros (£850?)
What do you think of the specs of the above? Do you know of any other vendors I cound visit for these type of PCs?
Thanks for helping

I'd much rather have a shuttle than a Mesh but it is a big jump in price. Although the Shuttle does have a proper Graphics Card.
Also do you actually need a Blu-Ray writer?
have you looked at the Dell Studio range? A friend bought one recently for his daughter and is very pleased with it.
Dell StudioIt's my problem, it's my problem

Hi Bill, thanks for the quick reply, will give Dell a visit too.
I could ditch the Blu Ray writer saving £70 on the Mesh & £100(!!) off the CCL Shuttle.
I've found a 3rd one much better bargin than the CCL version, what do you think?
Cougar Extreme Shuttle
Windows 7 Premium
AM3 Phenom X4 940 3.0 GHz
4GB DDR 800 Ram
1024MB ATI HD 4650
500GB HDD
7.1 onboard Soundcard
Blu Ray reader/DVD Writer
£635 (or £60 less with normal dvd writer)
There's quite a lot of other customisation possibilities too, this ones a better bargin no?
That Dell Hybrid in your link is really sexy, plenty Ram and the hard disk would be more than enough of me, so that's shortlisted too

That Cougar looks good.
It's got a better processor and a decent graphics card. It's my problem, it's my problem

I recently put together a Shuttle system for someone based on this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154749 and a 2.5ghz Core 2 Quad processor. Re-using some parts from the old system (DDR2 memory, and an OK graphics card) the hardware costs for the upgrade were quite reasonable (a little over £300 IIRC). Its a really nice compact system and dead easy to put together. The only issue I had was the BIOS needed updating on the Shuttle to work with the new Q8300 processor, so I had to find a spare LGA775 processor in order to flash the BIOS.0

If you're looking to get a Shuttle, I'd go for one with a P-series chassis - such as the one that turbobob points to.
The design is very much better than the lesser series, with separate cooling for the HDD bays. They are very well made, and are extremely easy to put together.
The only thing that might go against it is that - with five fans in it - it's not going to be silent, though with the smart fan setting on it is quite quiet.0 -

nice looking units, keep promising myself a little under the TV PC0 -
The gorgeous Zino from Dell is another one to shortlist then!
Cheers
Building one isn't something I would want to do though. That Ebuyer one looks nice but the Cougar built Shuttle does use an older model I think (SG31) with no way to change it.Sealed Pot Challenge 15 #78
