Nuisance phone calls have returned ??

I would be really grateful if anyone on here could help. Also not sure where to post this but thought this was the best place so here goes..
We had annoying/nuisance phone calls from about april to october so roughly 6 months - noone ever spoke but was always there as you could here someone breathing. The phone calls are always during the day and never through the nighttime - ever.
I eventually phoned the police - who - I could write a story about cos they were ABSOLUTELY USELSS AND APPALLING - and if anything made me feel worse. The police man was rude, arrogant and really could not be "ar**d" and said that it wasnt a priority (I can now understand why people dont bother and how so people remain harrassed for years). They said I could forget about a trace on the line - but to phone the telephone company and get all withheld numbers barred. Which I did.
This was ok for a few weeks - but now it has started again - but this time comes up with the number "0501".
I have no idea who or where this is, or whether it is the same person or not. When you call the number itself obviously it is a dead number and it does not even ring. Or is this a premium rate or scam number - I just have no idea.
SO PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ANY CLUES I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!! TIA.
