kitchen fitter for desperate female, se london

Options
I recently used a 'recommended tradesman' service for refitting a bathroom and was royally ripped off and had to spend further money putting it right. After 7 years in this property I have been ripped off by too many tradesmen to mention - all I want is someone reliable who will carry out decent work for a fair price. My kitchen is crumbling around me, I've spent hours researching the net and this site and clearly feel I don't want to go down the magnet/moben route based on previous posts. I can probably plan and order the units myself, but I need an all-rounder to fit it who's willing to 'work with me' and is trustworthy and reliable?

Not sure why you mention that you're female..?
The best thing to do when trying to find a tradesman is to ask family/friends/colleagues who they used and go on recommendation.
Another thing is that you mention that you want the work done at a reasonable price. Of course you do - but don't forget you usually get what you pay for with these jobs - if you pay peanuts you'll get a monkey.

Go on personal recommendation every time.
If you will the end, you must will the means.
  • I mentioned the female bit because I haven't been able to get recommendations from friends, work colleagues etc and all the tradesmen I've used have come via the web, yellow pages etc. In terms of cost I'm more than happy to pay the going rate: it's not about getting the job done on the cheap - I'd probably pay an enhancement if I get peace of mind and decent service! Living in London there's no shortage of people to chose from, but past experience suggests I SHOULD look for recommendations from others - hence my post.

As a stab in the dark, I have a mate who lives in Catford who recently had a guy in to some similar work. Not sure where you are, but I could ask and pm you his details if you're interested..?

  • Thanks - I'm in South Norwood (SE25) - how do I go about sending you my e-mail?

Whoever you find, I suggest that you do not mention the word desperate.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
