I have a pc running Windows XP and Itunes 9. I have just got a new laptop running Windows 7 64 Bit. How do I get my Itunes library and playlists across? The easy transfer wanted to send the contents of my pc over the network but it would have taken 2 days so I didn't do it. I have been transferring using an external HDD but Itunes isn't finding the location of my files. I can't plug my Ipod into my laptop as I know it will wipe everything.
Why isn't it easy??!!!

Open iTunes, click on file, then click on add folder to library.
Find the folder where you songs are and Robert is a close relative.
BTW Easy transfer works fine using an External hard disk,That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Cant you just login to Itunes then plug in your ipod, that way it will know the Ipod is for the same account and you can register an Ipod to 5 computers with the same itunes accountSurvey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

If you have all your music stored on your ipod you can carry out the below procedure. This will transfer music from your ipod to your new computer.
For Windows:
1) connect iPod and hold Shift + Ctrl - this stops the auto sync
2) If your iPod doesn't appear in 'My Computer' then enable disk use for the iPod
3) Go to 'My Computer' and Double-click your iPod to open it
4) From the menu bar go to Tools > Folder Options…
5) Select the 'View' tab
6) scroll down and enable 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'
7) hit 'Apply' or 'OK'
8) Double-click on 'iPod_Control', then 'Music'
9) Copy the contents (Folders named F01, F02, etc.) to your HDD
10) open iTunes preferences and under the advanced pane, make sure that 'Keep iTunes Music folder organized' and, 'Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library' are checked. The first option will fix up the filenames so that they appear normal, the second makes sure that the songs are somewhere safe that iTunes knows about.
11) Drag the Folders into the iTunes window to import your music0
