hi everyone, i purchased a mamas and papas pipi buggy from argos approx three months ago (cant remember exact date but this buggy is exclusive to argos and came out when there last catalogue came out) i think i paid cash but will check my bank statments and i did keep the reciept but cant find it anywhere,
anyway, the pushchair is knackered, it seems like the frame has bent and wont close properly and makes a horrific crunching noise when you try to close it and the back rest sometimes sticks and you have to yank it down, its never been anywhere to get squished or anything and i take could care of my buggies as i am a bit of a pushchair addict!! my son is only six months old and has used it probably 10 times max as i also have a maxi cosi car seat and quinny frame i use when out in the car.
am very disappointed as this is the first mamas and papas pushchair i have bought (have three kids!) and i want my money back not an exchange as am going back to maclaren as never had any probs with them! any one know where i stand? i would right it off but the pushchair was seventy quid!
any help would be greatly appreciated will try and go through my bank statements but am pretty sure i bought our dvd player at the same time so the amount wont match just the pushchair so will that matter? many thanks zoe

Bad news I'm afraid - without any form of proof of purchase, Argos are not obliged to do anything. As its an "exclusive", they may rectify the fault as a goodwill gesture.
If you did have proof of purchase, then I'd doubt they would offer a refund or replacement for another model. They'd probably offer repair or possibly a partial refund.
However, for what its worth, I'd never purchase a pushchair from someone like Argos - I'd deal with baby equipment suppliers, preferably on the high street such as Mothercare or on line retailers simply for convenience in the event of a fault. In the event Argos did agree to repair it for you, I doubt you'd get a loan pushchair in the interim.
We bought a Graco system from Mothercare which went faulty after 6 to 9mths (just as our daughter was ready for a proper car seat), took it back to be told it needed to go back to manufacturer - we got a loan system in the interim and when we were told it was beyond economic repair, we got a full refund. However, we'd bought the Graco in a sale and I somehow managed to argue a discount off a new pushchair on that basis. Result: I wasn't too badly inconvenienced, bonus that I didn't then have to fork out for a buggy later on, and I've continued to deal with Mothercare.0 -
It actually depends on the store manager. If it's exclusive to Argos they are pretty good without a receipt or proof of purchase (my local store is anyhoo) although they don't need to be.
I had to returns something recently, had to proof or receipt, I could however narrow it down to 2 days I could have bought it. Which helped them find the purchase on their system.
Any chance you done a preorder online or anything like that and still have the email that could give them a possible date?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
hi if i wrack my brain with my other half we may be able to work out when i bought it as i know we def had it when we went on holiday on 19th sept, maybe i should ring them rather than cart the pushchair up there! this is the first one i have bought from argos as i do usually do mothercare or a specific online baby store! i wish i could find the reciept! i did post it on my facebook (very sad i know lol but maybe i can trace back through my statuses and get a date and then ring them!) i cant believe its broken already, i really like it as well lol! thanks for your help0

Give it a go, but they will probably still ask for some sort of proof of purchase, a bank statement will be fine. While the amounts will differ, it would be up to them really to prove that this unit was not bought on that day.
Chances are they will return it to the manufacturer for a repair rather than a refund/exchange.0 -

A bank statement would only be of use if purchased on a debit card.
You're quite right though - it may well depend on the store manager and whether they are prepared to go through their records to confirm purchase.
OP - the receipt will turn up after the event, thats the law of sod! Never be tempted to pay cash again though on anything that you may go faulty!0
