creating a website in publisher, HTML code help

i am having to use publisher to create a website (can't use front page - long story!)

anyway we are getting on okay with it so far, but have got a bit stuck on a few things. we have entered html code for some effects, but struggling to make sense of a pop up code.

does anyone know what the script would be to put in a simple pop up box? I have managed to only get a pop up of an alert box so far with the little ! sign in a yellow triange, which we can add our text in, but the ! isn't want we want, looks too negative, like a warning box.

Also we wish to have some text scrolling upwards, which we got a code for on the internet, but the space for the text goes up too far (ie it scrolls too far up the page) and there doesnt seem to be changeable. we can change the size of the text and the colour, speed but not the actual box of the text.

can anyone help??

this is the code for the pop up box that works

<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function disp_alert()
!!
alert("24th June 2006")
}
</script>
</head>

<body>
<form>
<input type="button" onclick="disp_alert()" value="24">
</form>
</body>

</html>

    Hi

    No real help here - but are you really sure you want pop ups? Most people tend to see them as ads and close them before they've looked!

    They may also be closed by pop up blocking software and it is not generally regarded as a good idea in design terms.

    One of the best vertical scrollers I've come across is Tigra:

    http://www.softcomplex.com/products/tigra_scroller/

    It's free for any use, uses external .html files to hold the text to scroll and is totally configurable.

    One annoying problem I haven't managed to crack yet is that a blank line is inserted in the webpage after the display of Tigra in Internet Explorer, but not in Mozilla. Still working on that one and there may well be an easy workaround.
