B&Q leaky toilet

Hi, bought a 'cube' box from B&Q in the sale about 3-4 months ago - had a toilet, cistern, sink, pedestal and all the fittings, it was in a sale clearance. Can't find the receipt!
Started re-doing the bathroom last week - the pedestal for the sink isn't right, doesn't fit properly. Wasn't too bothered about that. The toilet was plumbed in, and the plumber (who's very experienced) checked it and all seemed ok. However, it was leaking. On closer inspection (when we removed it completely) there's no visible crack but if you look under the back of the toilet there's a rough area which looks like something has been smeared over during the making of the toilet - before it was 'fired' or whatever they do....and water was dripping through that. Time being of the essence - didn't drive to B&Q, but bought a replacement toilet locally (especially as we had an expensive plumber waiting to finish the job). I'm not sure how to prove this toilet leaks - unless they want to plumb it in! So how do I go about asking for a refund?

Paid by cash or card?
If card they should be able to trace it although you'll need to push to have it done.
I spose now unfortunately they don't necessary have to give you refund under soga as been over 28days, But you may have some recourse if you only had it fitted recently. If you've fitted the rest of the suite then they may only be given a partial refund or if the manger is in a good mood a full refund0 -
thanks Steve, can't believe I paid cash but can't see it on my bank statements - will have to check again. Must try to remember NOT to use B&Q again - there's never anything but problems whatever I buy from there!!Bern :j0
