Laptop Battery

I've had my Acer 5920 Laptop for about 15 months and the battery only holds a charge for 5-10 minutes.

Can anyone suggest where to get a new one from, preferably one that won't break the bank but will let me move away from the plug socket!!

have you completely drained the battery and your laptop and charged from scratch? i had a problem with my battery actually charging, and rang acer to told me to do the following:
remove power cable
remove battery
hold down power on button for 20 seconds
replace battery and power cable
keep plugged in and dont use for 8 hrs.

i know my mobile didnt hold its charge well until i completely drained the battery and started from nil but maybe worth a try?

Thanks - I'd rather not buy from Ebay as if it turns out to be no better than the one I've got I've got a fight on my hands to get my money back (previous experience).

I'll try what choccyface suggested when I go off to work today and hope for the best!
