Hi everyone,
I have a 40" toshiba xf355d which has developed an issue. Down the right hand side of the screen the first 3-4 inches are noticeable lighter than the rest of the picture.
It's the same with the x-box, dvd, tv and hdmi inputs...
Anyone got any clue as i'm not really tech savvie!!
Thanks in advance.
Anna

you don't have any speakers next to it do you ???
Unless the Speakers are magnetically shielded they could distort your TV picture .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Thanks Trets... it's not speaker discolouration i've seen that before and there are no speakers next to it.... It's like the brightness has been turned up, but only on the right hand 3-4 inches! Very odd...0

Your tube is on the way out.0

As this is an LCD TV it is for sure an internal problem, hard to diagnose without a picture, but is almost certainly beyond a cheap DIY fix. Have you got any warenty, extended or otherwise on the set?At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0

Unfortunately not....

Have e-mailed currys and toshiba about it, less than 2 years old and cost £1000! Fingers crossed i might get somewhere with them...0 -
Warranty or not, if they give you trouble, I would quote the Sale of Goods Act to Currys. An item should be fit for purpose last a 'reasonable' amount of time. I would strongly argue that a £1000 TV should last a lot longer than 2 years.
If that fails, if you bought it on a Credit Card, speak to them, as they are jointly liable under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
Both of these Acts have been discussed in this forum - a quick search will find a lot of information.0 -
Thankyou Bikertov... unfortuantely wasn't paid for on a CC, took out an interest free deal with currys and paid it off monthly...
Thanks for the sale of goods info, will give them hell!0 -

Thanks for the sale of goods info, will give them hell!
In that case, you may still have a Section 75 claim against the credit provider - it is the same Act :j0 -
£1000 is a lot of money, surely you would be expecting a tv of this 'quality' to last 8 years+.
Give 'em hell! :cool:0 -
Thanks everyone... have e-mailed to manufacturer and seller so will see what happens!
Thanks for the section 75 info Bikertov, will dig out the credit agreement later and write to them as wel.
Fingers crossed!0
