Advice about my Box Buxus!

I bought two round matching Box Buxus plants about 8 weeks ago. I have noticed that since then, they have got a sort of fluff/powder all over them, I can brush it off but it mostly still remains. What is it?
I have also noticed that one of the plants has lots more new growth on it, I swapped their postions round in case one got more sun/shade but its still growing faster than the other. What could be causing this? I have given each one a feed with Miracle grow, maybe I put more in one than the other? Shall I just feed the smaller one and hope it catches up?
One more thing, how and when do I trim them, I want to cut back some of the new paler growth (especially on biggest Box) but want to retain the density and allow it to expand a little but not so much that it loses its shape.
Many thanks,
Sarah x

Sounds like mildew. Severe attack could cause leaves to fall so treat at once. Cause if usually dryness or lack of nutrients. Probably dryness in your case as you are feeding. They can dry out very quickly in hot weather if in pots. Spray with a fungicide or with sulphur. Water and feed affected plant more often particularly if in pots in dry hot weather.
I don't think it unusual for plants to grow at different rates, I don't think you can make the smaller one "catch up" but it may do of its own accord.
I trim box a little and often to maintain shape.0 -
That's what's happening with mine.
I have one that's not growing as much as the other and it's looking a little out of shape.
Will have to clip it a little and often, as suggested.
Thanks!0
