External Hard Drive Recommendation needed

I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop with a 500GB hard drive. I am looking to purchase an external hard drive up to the same amount, doesnt need to be portable. Any recommendations? I would use it to store music and photographs. As to my budget, around £60, not sure if that is realistic for a 500GB, if not then 320GB should do.

Any advice?

I would buy a quality enclosure and a HDD and build it myself.

Maybe a NAS appliance? More reliable and the ability to RAID your data.

Comet has a 1TB Iomega for £64.99 including free delivery. I have this model and it contains a Samsung drive.

PC World has a 1TB WD Elements for £64.99 instore or £63.58 on the web with free standard delivery.
