External Hard Drive Recommendation needed

I have a Dell Studio 17 laptop with a 500GB hard drive. I am looking to purchase an external hard drive up to the same amount, doesnt need to be portable. Any recommendations? I would use it to store music and photographs. As to my budget, around £60, not sure if that is realistic for a 500GB, if not then 320GB should do.
Any advice?

I would buy a quality enclosure and a HDD and build it myself.0

Maybe a NAS appliance? More reliable and the ability to RAID your data.0

Agreed. Save ~£1.22 from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-External-Drive/dp/B001GO9ERE/ref=pd_ts_ce_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
Next cheaper version would be the 500GB model:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-500GB-Portable/dp/B002COI612/ref=pd_ts_ce_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
500GB £56.33 (so only ~£8 extra for the above 1TB model)...
Or next one down:
