Looking for an A3 printer, advice please.

My printer has packed in and am considering getting a printer that can print A3 size as it would help my daughter with her homework. I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to a decent one to buy but not too expensive. Thanks in advance.

They're a bit like hens' teeth, and priced accordingly. We got an HP OfficeJet K850dn a couple of years ago for work, and it's an enormous great thing - as wide as A3 landscape, and then some... Works well, provided you keep it fed with the manufacturer's ink cartridges.

Have a look on Ebay for Epson R1800 and other similar in that series.
I got one ages ago for 120 quid so they must be ,,oh sod it I'll search ..

They print direct to CD and DVD (although that one seems to me minus the tray)...and use a LOT of ink especially if you are tempted to use them for images. I had one of these on mine http://www.continuous-ink-systems.co.uk/p80/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R800-and-R1800-Continuous-Ink-Systems/product_info.html?osCsid=8cfd1a4dcaf883d0cc5eef74d5307e58 to solve that problem.

I think Epson only make R1900 and R1400 now ..if you're buying new.

I changed to an all in one and sometimes badly miss the big boy. It took up a fair bit of room.

    Canon.

    I'd buy this, from here.

  • Thanks for your replies and help will take a look at them all.
  • I have a HP K7100 and think it prints really well. It was fairly cheap in comparison to others when I bought it last yr as well. One think I would prefer though is to have individual colour cartridges rather than just the one with all 3 colours in it. It does print my uni work well though...as long as you don't try to print direct from photoshop, you need to save it as a JPG first or the file size is too big for it to cope.

Probably too late, but I'm considering the Epson B1100. It's A3+, designed for office use and economical ink usage and the few reviews available (it's a fairly new model, launched last September) are very positive. eBuyet have it for a tad under £170.
