Buying Mondeo at auction

Hi. Can anyone tell me how much i'm likely to pay for a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI 130 Zetec estate 06/07, at aucton ?
What do you reckon to employing an auction buyer? Or is it better to find the time myself. Looking at auctions in the NW & West midlands - and there are quite a few Mondeos coming through - no suprise
Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks

Depends on what others a prepared to bid against you at the time. Trade for a 07 plate is about 9.5K.

What and pay their commission on top. I’d only suggest that if you are incapable of putting your hand up and sticking to your budget.

    Really depends on milage.
06/07 means that there will be fleet returns going through all over the shop with anything from 3 year 60k and lower to cars that age with over 100k of motorway miles on them. I would say cheapest your looking £5,500/£6000 depending on the day (some days might be one going through - other days you could find 20 if they were a job car rather than a user chooser).

Would also suggest you try and find a slightly higher spec one (zetec is a good spec from the option point of view) but Titanium suggests its been chosen rather than given and often that means they are looked after a little better - that my view and by no means right in every case.

Would suggest looking at ebay to see what they are ACTUALLY going for. Several of the big fleet guys shift their cars their via agents and I have found prices to be similar to auction prices (especially once you add on the auction winners fee and transport due to hassle of vehicle not being taxed.)
  • What is the main reason you're wanting to buy from auction?

    To save money?

The money you save you might well end up paying for a new cluthc, starter motor and DMF... do your homework carefully...

You may very well find (I nearly always do) that auction prices with commission is not very different from what you would pay privately through the likes of autotrader. The advantage of autotrader is that there is likely to be some road tax on the screen and you can test drive. If you then employ someone to buy on your behalf you will probably be paying more than you could buy off autotrader.
